VALERIACARDOSO is an integrative practice of interior architecture and interior design committed to designing for well-being. We are based in Portugal.
We believe that the built environment should prompt feelings of joy and comfort as well as opportunities for connection and deeper bonds with what surrounds us. The spaces in which we live and work help set the tone for how we live and work. We believe deeply in designing for optimum health and sustainability. Our spaces are permissive rather than prescriptive, welcoming environments that allow people to write their own stories. Natural, handcrafted, one of a kind, deep in memories. We gravitate towards natural materials that are understated and elegant, which we do our best to source locally. We respect and value handcrafted items for the multi-layered depth they bring. We believe that silence, empty space, fresh air and natural light are as important as the object itself. We put a lot of thought into soft details like warmth and quality of light.
While each project is unique in its design expression, our projects have in common a desire to improve quality of life by creating nourishing interiors that respond to our most essential needs for beauty, harmony, comfort and calm.
